NHS Cough Campaign
In an effort to identify lung diseases at an early stage, Northumbria Healthcare introduced walk-in x-ray clinics at its hospitals without a GP referral. However, the campaign had clear parameters. Anyone seen needed to have a cough for 3 weeks or more, be over 50 and smoked at some point in their lives. Working with inpatients, messages and concepts were tested and our response was a simple, yet powerful, campaign focusing on the symptom. More than 800 people were seen with 21 conditions detected early as a result.
